Long Horn Miao people mainly live in the villages around Suoga township. The location live are among mountains which are over 2,000m high. The rock mountains cannot give them enough food, water and clothes since many years ago. In order to have a safe shelter to live from wars, they moved from north China to southwest until this area. When did it start? Nobody can tell now, even they themselves cannot. I have tried to asked them already."Many many years ago" is often used when they tell their old stories to their kids.

Luo Grand Opera possibly comes from Han Chinese Culture, it was popular played in the army, praying for good luck and success in the future wars. It was ever used often 600 years ago, until the Han Chinese force of Ming dynasty endtered onGuizhou land. Not only the the Ming army arrived here, but also did their culture came here. Local Tujia people and Miao people believed it is a good way to win a good luck and drive away evil gosts and bad luck from their houses. Until today, this opera is still played on some special occassion.

Songtao Style Miao Group
Songtao style Miao mainly live on the border of Guizhou and Hunan provinces, because it is on the border and mountainous, so this area becomes a great region to hide Miao and Tujiao groups for long time. Tongren is near Fenghuang and also it‘s a northeastern gate of Guizhou to outsiders. That‘s the reason why the local Miao cultures are often influenced by outside Han Chinese culture.

Mount Fanjing is the "first famous mountain " in Guizhou, "the highest mountain in Wuling", located in border of northeastern Guizhou province, Yinjiang county, Jiangkou county, and Songtao county. Its highest peak - phoenix mountain with an elevation of 2572 meters above sea level, the pilgrimage place--Old Jinding (Mount Fanjing old Mountain) with an elevation of 2494 meters, the New Jingding (new mountain) of 2336 meters.

Peaks in Wanfenglin are not very high, but it serried like bamboo shoots and forms potential of the spectacular. Leigong Mountain
Leigong Mountain is the highest mountain in Miaoling mountain range and the highest mountain in southeast Guizhou, lies in Leishan County, 40 minutes drive from Kaili (a famous tourism city of Guizhou province). It consists of ten peaks, which are all over 1800 meters high, the highest reaching 2178.8 meters. It is the holy mountain among Miao people and rumored as the place where the God of Thunder ("Leigong" in Chinese) lives.

Ancient Town of Longli
Longli Town was established in 1386 and renovated in 1404, its city wall built of earth. In 1457, cobblestones were used to further frame the town, thus its current aesthetic took shape. The existing city layout and its historic homes still retain their original appearance. In Longli, still today homes line the streets in good order, all comprising three rooms, including two bedrooms. The blue-tile roofs are further decorated with turned-up eaves and ridges oft time in the form of animals

Gunzhong style Miao people mainly live in the villages around Rongjiang, such as Pingyong, Pingjiang, Sanjiang,Tashi and so on. This Miao subgroup is good at making batik with honey wax and indigo color.
