Celebration Time: The time of the Lusheng Festival varies from place to place. The Zhouxi Lusheng Festival in Kaili City is held from the 16th to the 21st day of the first lunar month, while the Gulong Lusheng Festival in Huangping County is held from the 27th to the 29th day of the ninth lunar month. The Dong "Tangcuo" Lusheng Festival is held on an auspicious day according to ancient principles or during the autumn harvest.

Distribution Areas: It is widely popular in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture and other places, such as Kaili, Congjiang, Rongjiang, Huangping and other places where the Lusheng Festival is very grand.

Historical Origins

The festival originates from the migration culture of the Miao ancestors and the traditional farming sacrifices. The Lusheng Hall in the Zhouxi area was established by Wu Shilinggong in the Ming Dynasty, and has a history of more than 400 years.

Festival Activities

Lusheng Performance: This is the core activity of the Lusheng Festival. People wear beautiful costumes and play the Lusheng. There are solo performances, duets and group performances. The sound of the Lusheng is melodious and the scene is very spectacular.

Lusheng Dance: Accompanied by the sound of the Lusheng, men and women dance gracefully. There are various forms of dance, such as the "Drum Dragon Drum Tiger - Long Shirt Dragon" in Guiding County, the "Jinji Dance" in Danzhai County, and the "Gunshanzhu" which is widely popular in Guizhou.
